Photographed looking south towards Leicester around 1897, the north end of the city's viaduct begins to take shape. Already in place are two sections of the plate girder parapet. The viaduct was built by Henry Lovatt & Co. of Wolverhampton as part of Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone).
