Whetstone Station girder bridge.Bridge No. 399, built to carry the railway over what would be Station Street in Whetstone, Leicestershire. The station would eventually be built to the right of the bridge, with access being gained through a doorway and staircase in the right (southern) abutment. The house in the distance is on Victoria Road, and the bag in the road belongs to S. W. A. Newton, whose shadow can be seen at the base of the picture. The station and bridge formed part of Contract No. 3 (Aylestone to Rugby) built by Topham, Jones & Railton.
