A temporary wooden footbridge spans a cutting on Contract No.1 (Annesley to Leake) near Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. Visible beyond are the wooden centrings of a three arch brick overbridge. One of these structures is thought to have been the way to Bulwell Isolation Hospital. The tracks on the right are the main line permanent way. The muddy tracks on the left are temporary contractor's rails, laid to ferry men, materials and machinery along the route under construction. Logan & Hemingway was the firm responsible for building this section of the Railway.
