These are the imposing arches of Brackley viaduct, built by Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne as part of Contract No.5 (Woodford to Brackley). Apart from the arch at the top of the picture, where the wooden centring is still in place, the initial skin of brick work is complete. A brick parapet would later be added. Running close beside the viaduct is a line of contractor's temporary railway.
